Bennetts Pier, Kent County, Delaware
Upper 50s, misty, still and calm, no particular tide, although closer to low tide than high tide.
Drove down through the marshes to watch the sun rise and check out the storm damage or lack thereof. Other than a bizarre assortment of flotsam and jetsam, and a significant eroding of the artificial dune at the end of the road, there wasn’t much storm damage to speak of. Ended up walking north to Sandy Point and Brockonbridge Gut, ’til I ran out of shoreline.
Found a few places where deer had come down to the shore, see photo of tracks. No idea what was up with the helicopter – I stood and stared and wondered how someone so clearly befuddled had got ahold of such an expensive toy as he swooped around like a seagull, then when I got further down back toward the road, I realized he was spraying something in the marsh. He’s in two photos in a row, very low to the marsh in the second. And speaking of a bizarre assortment of flotsam and jetsam, see the watermelon wedge in the 5th photo – I don’t think those grow in the marsh. The last photo is of the community of Bowers Beach from the other side of Brockonbridge Gut.
