A few last frost shots before most of it melted, and a path. Faced with the adventure the path in the photos hinted at, the following went through my mind:

  • I am wearing my unlucky sky blue Merrell trail running shoes, which are extensively vented on the sides
  • The tide is coming in. How far in, I don’t know, because I neglected to check the tidal charts before embarking.
  • I have a breakfast date at 9am with people who would never let me live it down if I showed up soaked from the knees down.
  • Why did I leave my boots in the truck?

Ah well, next time I’ll go all the way, in boots.

And yes, i always keep a tripod and a pair of boots in my truck.

Last time I went here, it was foggy. This time, it was *frosty*! It was 26 degrees when I got there, and 41 by the time I left 90 minutes or so later. Unfortunately, the sun that brought the light I needed for better shots also melted the frost.

Oh, and I forgot my gloves.

Abandoned House, Kent County, Delaware

As I was driving up, I whispered under my breath, “please let there be an opening in the gate” and sure enough there was. I wasn’t brave/stupid enough to go upstairs, but I walked along the front of the two rooms with the plywood knocked off the windows.
