Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge, Milton, Delaware
Drizzly drippy afternoon, with a pretty steady rain falling when I pulled in. I usually go check out places I haven’t been before in less than optimal photography conditions, because at least I haven’t lost much in the way of good photo ops if it doesn’t work out. The Boardwalk Loop is only 1/2 mile long, so I figured even if it started really pouring, I’d just keep the camera stashed under my coat and be fine.
Actually once I got going, it let up a few times, so I was able to get some decent photos, and definitely able to establish that it’s worth going back and checking out under better conditions. Had quite a few shots that were ruined due to wind movement and not enough light, so maybe I’ll try to make it sooner rather than later. The seed pods in the 4th shot were really interesting looking up close, but none of those shots came out because the wind kept blowing them all around. There were some neat little red mushrooms at the base of the tree in the 6th shot, but those didn’t come out either.
Not sure what was up with the loblolly pine in the next shot, but it was riddled with those little holes all over, everywhere I could see.
