Trap Pond State Park – Birds

Right at sunrise, a bazillion (I counted) geese flew over, but only a few landed – the ones in the photo on one side of the boat ramp, and 2 more on the opposite side. The cardinal kept hiding on the wrong side of the branches, so this was the best photo I got of him. My bird expert says the last one is a swamp sparrow.

Sunrise. The first shot is from the road near the boat ramp, the second shot is from the bridge, and the others are from the boat ramp, which for some reason had the gate locked but not latched. It was a beautiful morning, the last of 2008. As you can see, though, the geese sure have done a number on the boat dock. I can’t even imagine what they’ve done to the pond! It makes even more sense of the signs up at Killens Pond asking people not to feed the geese.
