Seaford, Delaware
One night, I made an idle wish on Twitter. I wished I was friends with more farmers, because I was frustrated that most of my farm photos were taken from the roadside. Lo and behold, there was a farmer’s daugher following me, and she invited me to come out to the farm sometime! As it turned out, the day we chose thanks to the pleasant weather forecast turned out to have torrential rains, so these are taken inside the chicken house, which is why they’re so dark. I took about 40, deleted more than half, and these are the best of what was left, although some do have considerable blur – the chickens were a little anxious over having a stranger amongst them, and they never really stopped moving. I’ll be back to try again some sunnier day.
Oh, and come to find out those silkies, the white puffy ones, the weirdest chickens I’ve ever seen? My husband used to have some years ago. Go figure.
And speaking of chickens, I’ve been keeping an eye out for a place to pick up 2-3 Delaware Blue Hen chicks next spring. Have you seen any? :)

Wow. That’s a pretty nice “collection” of chickens. This is more than
an egg and chick factory.
