I know, it’s been a long hiatus. It was another camera problem, of course. This time my XS started giving me an ERR99. None of the stuff I found anywhere online helped when I tried it, and neither did the firmware update Canon’s tech support prescribed. An interesting thing came up during one of my several conversations with various Canon tech support folks, though – my XTi, which I drowned in a creek in December 2008, qualified for their loyalty program. So I sent the XS out for repair, and I traded the XTi (a very expensive paperweight after its submersion in a salt water creek – powered on, even) and $799 for a Canon 50D and a 28-135mm lens, refurbished.
So here I am, back again, trying to find time to make friends with the new camera and get back to posting regularly.
