North Bowers sunrise – 25 degrees outside. The sky was basically one big cloud, but there was a thin spot across the horizon where the sun was glowing through. I parked over by the headboat docks since the public access beach parking lot still had 2-3 ft of snow on it. The plowed areas were mostly solid sheets of ice where the snow had melted and refrozen. It was a very ginger tiptoe across that with my precious camera!

Rain in the forecast again today, 90% chance, but when I got off work it wasn’t raining yet. Driving in, I realized I hadn’t been to this particular beach since March, when there was snow on the ground. South Bowers gets a lot more traffic than most of the other places I go, and there are almost always four wheelers, fishermen, and/or dog walkers out there. And I go out for peace and quiet and solitude. That being said, it’s still a lovely stretch of beach, and I love the way the receding tides leave behind lines of peat down the beach.

I’ve been seeing tons of monarch butterflies and dragonflies around lately (and JELLYFISH, huge ones, saw another half a dozen today washed up on the shore at least 12″ in diameter).
