Bombay Hook, Smyrna, Delaware
I see there’s a new sign up since last I visited, warning visitors not to feed the foxes and that doing so can be a federal offense. I suppose that’s why this critter was so tolerant of our relatively close proximity – someone must have been breaking that rule this season.

Port Mahon, Delaware
I’ve been meaning to get back out here since the double nor’easters we had recently, but today’s the first time I made it. I decided spur of the moment to go out, so I didn’t check the tide charts and wasn’t sure how far from high tide it was (or on which side of it) when I got to the point where I took the first photo above. It was 20 minutes or so before sunrise, and darker than it looks in the photo, which I took from a position between the headlights of my truck. From there, I backed out – no way was I driving through water I couldn’t see the end of, especially after seeing the condition of the road further out. The 6th photo is where it looks like the road has completely washed out and been built back up with gravel, which is also beginning to wash back out. The last photo is where the water is still lapping right up to what’s left of the road on my way back out.

South Bowers, Delaware
The sun finally started to peek through the clouds as I walked back toward the public access. The storm in the distance behind the town never really amounted to anything, at least not in this area – just a few sprinkles on my way back out of town.
