South Bowers, Delaware

Rain in the forecast again today, 90% chance, but when I got off work it wasn’t raining yet. Driving in, I realized I hadn’t been to this particular beach since March, when there was snow on the ground. South Bowers gets a lot more traffic than most of the other places I go, and there are almost always four wheelers, fishermen, and/or dog walkers out there. And I go out for peace and quiet and solitude. That being said, it’s still a lovely stretch of beach, and I love the way the receding tides leave behind lines of peat down the beach.

Blue crab, fresh from fighting for his life, from the looks of it. Lots of seagull prints around.

Kitts Hummock, Delaware

I’ve been trying to get in better shape (down about 14 lbs since late August) and I went out to Kitts Hummock this afternoon planning to just go for a walk south to Pickering, not really to take photos. Fortunately, I carry my camera pretty much everywhere, because the beach wasn’t really fit for walking – a flock of geese is a beautiful thing to look at and listen to, but oi, what a mess they leave behind.
