Ghost crab, AKA Sand Crab. If he hadn’t moved, I doubt I ever would’ve spotted him, although their burrows were everywhere. He’s in every photo, but I cropped the last one in tight to make him easier to spot.

Millington, Maryland

So I went to the Chestertown Tea Party festival straight from work, and ended up staying a lot longer than I’d originally intended to. By the time we fought our way out of the traffic in downtown Chestertown, we were hot, tired, hungry, and more than a little cranky. We figured our best chance of food would be in Millington, but neither of us had been there in years and we weren’t sure what we’d find.

We spotted the Two Tree Restaurant as we pulled up to the intersection of Sassafras and Cypress, and were amazed to also find convenient parking, so we headed right in. I had been awake for 24 hours by that time, and I guess if you’d asked me what I was expecting, it would’ve been a typical small town greasy spoon. As soon as we walked in the front door (the glare from the sun made it difficult to see in through the huge plate glass windows and door), it was obvious that it was no greasy spoon. It was bright, sunny, airy, and clean, with understated elegance. The temperature was just right, the music (Sirius Coffee Shop) was good, and the service was prompt.

And then… the food came. It was lunchtime, so I ordered a wrap with avocado, greens, sprouts, tomato, cucumber, red onion, and roasted garlic aioli, and a cup of crab bisque. I’m no food critic, but this food knocked my socks off. We talked to the waitress and the chef and raved about how good it was. It looks like it’ll take me about an hour to get back there if I go straight from my house, but I’m going to, as soon as I get a chance. You should check it out too!

And no, I don’t usually do restaurant reviews, but this place was great.

Chestertown Tea Party, Chestertown, Maryland

The Dover English Country Dancers did an exhibition dance in front of the stage as we were on the way back up the street from the river. I got more photos of the ladies than the men, because I was checking out their awesome dresses through the zoom lens.
